Version 7.3 build 138 Released April 11, 2016

Dayzer Change Log

New Features:

1. Allow to run parallel unit commitment solver DZSCUC with the following run options simultaneously: MSD (solve 24 hour joint dispatch), HTO (hourly transmission outage) and CAI (contingency analysis).

2. Allow to use bulk insert option to create input SQL database that significantly reduces saving time. The user should set and enable the input ODBC bulk insert in dayzer.ini file.

3. Allow to comment the bulk insert connection string line for input and output ODBC in dayzer.ini file. Dayzer will automatically configure the bulk connection. The user needs to login as administrator to use this feature.

4. Modified the strategic bidding options for joint pools. For a given super-pool focus, Dayzer will only choose units from the focused pool to make supply curve and adjust bid-adders for units in the focused pool.

5. Added Real Time Market binding history of a given constraint when pressing F11 on the constraint.

6. Added a new button ''Redo TR outages'' at Inputs --> Unit Outage Schedules window, which allows the user to re-calculate TR outages and re-generate the TR outage report.

7. Added BindingHistoryLODFAnalysis.dzs script to analyze the LODF impact of line outages on the historical day-ahead market binding constraints.

8. Added LineOutageImpactInPeriod.dzs script to analyze the locational impact of outages at selected units, hubs, and load zones.

9. Added Sensitivity_Analysis.dzs script to run sensitivity analysis when fuel price, coal price, wind generation, and load MW demand vary.

10. Modified TransOutageImpact.dzs script to allow it to work with SQL input and output databases.

11. CES is working on developing a DAYZER model for the Mexican electric power nodal market. Please contact CES for more information.

12. CES developed a new application called dznode to manage Dayzer simulation on multiple machines. Dznode allows Long term Dayzer simulation to be split into many intervals and assigned to independent task processes that will run each interval in parallel on different host machines. The host machines should be mutually reachable from one another, and must connect to the same SQL Server database. The beta version is available for download from the CES website.

New Run Option Added:

1. Added new run option MUC=4. This option will use DZSCUC to solve for unit commitment followed by up to two MIP iterations using the solution from DZSCUC.

2. Updated the MUC=3 run option. In this release, MUC=3 can work simultaneously with CAI>0, HTO>0, and MSD=1.

3. Updated the BID (Bidding strategy) run option. For BID=19,20,21,22, (1) When the simulation end date is on or before the input DB creation date, the bid-adder adjustment for each unit on each day will be based on the previous year same date marginal cost supply curve and the previous year same date LMP/energy regression curve. (2) When the simulation end date is after the input DB creation date, the bid-adder adjustment for each unit on each day will be based on the most recent same date marginal cost supply curve and the most recent same date LMP/energy regression curve. For other strategic bidding options (BID=9, 10, 11, 12), it will revert back to marginal cost bidding after 10 days of the current date. Run option LMS=1 cannot be used with BID=19, 20, 21, 22.

4. Added new run option COP=7 to allow user to ignore all downloaded unit outages.

5. Added new run option CPC (Calculate Pre-Contingency Flow, default CPC=0). If CPC=1, Dayzer will calculate and save pre-contingency flow into the DZR file (ODZ run option must be set).

Improvements:

1. In Dayzer short term GUI under Tools menu --> Transmission Rights Evaluation window, Dayzer will calculate the FTR only when the user click 'Apply'.

2. In Dayzer short term GUI under Simulation menu --> Demand Requirements window, Dayzer will only show aggregates with non-zero load.

3. Changed the maximum allowable VOM value to be 2000.

4. Added flow decomposition summary from different categories into the F5 report.

5. Freeze the columns 'Constraint' and 'ISO contingency name' in the Binding Constraint Shadow Prices report.

6. Added elements ID to Constraint Flow decomposition, Unit and Zone LMP decomposition when right clicking the corresponding item in Dayzer short term GUI.

7. Allow to use Virtual DC Line Par Logic VDP run option before loading a new scenario in Dayzer short term GUI.

8. Allow to set SRC run option directly from the Dayzer Long term GUI by clicking ''Advanced'' button in the output options and set the value in the text box.

9. Updated Dayzer Long term to save unmapped transmission outages into the Transmission_Outage table under the input database with negative IDs.

10. Changed Dayzer short term GUI to display day-ahead LMP for aggregates that are not defined in the default DZR file.

11. Speed up Dayzer simulation by optimizing the way Dayzer calculates constraints' flows, especially for scenarios with many Aggregates defined in the default pfd.

12. Fixed bugs:

a) Fixed a bug in Dayzer short term GUI Tools --> Transmission Rights Evaluation window, sorting the columns on the right pane does not work.

b) Fixed a bug that caused the pre-outage flow not to be saved to SQL database when setting POF=1.

c) Fixed a bug that caused unit derate button not to work stably.

d) Fixed two bugs in the Inactive Unit Report: Congestion components are missing in the LMP. Loss components are not calculated when using OLS=1.

e) Fixed a bug that caused saving input SQL database to crash especially for large pools.

f) Fixed a bug that caused Dayzer not to save records to Min/Max flow columns in the Results_Constraints table with regular ODBC.

Dayzer User/Input-DB template updates:

1. Updated InstallationDate column in the [Generation_Unit_Characteristics_DO_NOT_CHANGE] table in Dayzer SQL input database to allow NULL values.

Dayzer output DB template updates:

1. Added CreationDate column to the set of primary keys in the [CA_Constraints] table in both Dayzer SQL and Dayzer Access output database.

2. Removed primary keys from the [CA_CTGLine] table in the Dayzer SQL output database.
